Enough with the negativity in the world! It’s time for some positive vibes!
In the past couple months of blogging, I’ve talked about how to stay motivated in those “off days” – Don’t let your ship Go Down – I talked about Gratitude Journaling and finding out how blessed we are – We are Blessed –
All of these posts have an underlining theme of positivity. Something a lot of people (including myself) struggle with. And something we don’t see a lot of nowadays.
Now, before I go on, let me just say I wrote this post a while ago, but I felt it was bad timing to post something on positivity. But really, maybe this is a good time, we need a little positivity right now.
So, here goes!
I am pretty sure we can beat those off days I’ve talked about, and we can make a top 10 list of things we are grateful for, but how do we beat all the negativity?
Negativity is controlling, it is so easy to look at the bad side of things then to try and find something to be positive about.
Especially right now, what in the world could we be happy about right now? Well, as I talked about in my ‘We Are Blessed’ post, we have many things to be happy and thankful for, we just have to look for them.
I tend to be a mix of negativity and positivity; it depends on the situation I’m in. But I don’t like to be negative because I’ve learned that being negative, while it seems easy, tends to lead to very unpleasant consequences.
How did I come to this discovery? I was around negative people and I found it to be very annoying.
Like, would it be possible for you to say something positive? The more I am around those people the more I wanted to be the most positive person ever.
My Dad and I quote a line from a favorite movie if one of us is being negative, we say “why don’t you knock it off with them negative waves!?” or “enough with the negative waves!”
While we say it as a joke, the quote has a point. In life, we have two options, we can spread negative waves or positive vibes.
We often see signs, posters, t-shirts that say ‘Positive Vibes Only’ and while we might see it as an overused quote or something from the 60s, that quote has a point too. We can give positive vibes as easily as we can give negative waves.
Now, I am not saying you have to be one of those rainbows and unicorn types, the ones that are just so positive! Nothing can get them down!
I find that a smite annoying, like, take it down notch why don’t ya?
But we can go about life with our face to the sun and simply be the happy, thankful, positive people God created us to be.
But every day there is a battle between negativity and positivity, and we have to fight it.
Nothing feels better than giving a grouchy person a positive vibe.
Here are three ways to spread positive vibes and feel happy.
1. Positive Thoughts – When you wake up in the morning, think one positive thought or be thankful for one thing. For me, I like to talk to God in the morning. Just to thank Him for a new day, and pray that I will have a productive and good day.
And then throughout the day, think positive thoughts; the sun is shining, breakfast was good, I got what I needed at the store…
2. Spreading Positive Vibes – Spreading happiness is just as important as thinking positively. Negativity can spread just as quickly as positivity. As I said, every day there is a battle between happy and dull, fight the battle with smiles, kind words, and positive actions.
3. Positive Actions – They say actions speak louder than words, which I believe is true, and kind actions are the loudest.
My mom has a rule when we go shopping and when we standing in line at the checkout, if the person behind us has less than us, she will have them go ahead of us. That’s a positive action; being aware of your fellow man and being the good humans, we ought to be.
Say thank you to the checkout people, or bank teller, they may not want to be there or maybe they are having a bad day, giving them a smile and a positive vibe just might make it better. Or worse, but hey, you tried!
Instead of looking down when you walk into a store, look up, and smile at those people and say ‘hi’. You never know what will make a person’s day better.
A lot of trends are coming back from years ago, from styles of clothing to décor. Let’s make positivity and kindness a trend that never goes out of style.
It may be a “sappy” way to end this post, but it’s the truth…
What the world needs now is love sweet love,
It’s the only thing that there’s just too little of,
What the world needs now is love sweet love,
No, not just for some but for everyone…
