Greetings and Salutations!
Just because I did not post last week, does not mean my thoughts and ideas stopped coming.
My thoughts range from an innocent merry-go-round to a crazy, maddening, out-of-control roller coaster.
But, let’s stay in the safe zone…shall we?
In the past, I’ve had random posts, and while they are fun, they needed work. Especially the name…random post, ooo, fun…as fun and exciting as a 10-piece puzzle.
So! Here is the rename
There are so many different flavors of jelly beans, and when you have a bowl full of them, you never know what you’re going to get.
Plus! I’ve got something new
I wrote one post entitled this, but I think it would be a really fun addition and “series” like the jelly beans.
The jelly bean posts will be fun, while the Bloggers Notebook will be a little less sugar-ish.
So, without further ado…
Once again, we open the notebook of a blogger. The holder of secrets, thoughts, and small bits of the heart.
What do we find? Half written posts and blank pages. But when you combine the half written posts, you get randomness.
Really, there is nothing wrong with a little randomness now and then. When a person does something random, it keeps life interesting. What if everyone thought and acted the same way? The world would be a boring and dull place.
When a writer is left in an open space she listens to the world and the people around her. She listens to their words, and what they think. And from it, she writes down her own opinion and thoughts, ones never shared…until today.
Time Does Not Have to Fly
In June I heard people say “Can you believe it’s June already”? In July I heard a person say “I can’t believe it’s July” and yesterday I heard someone say “I just can’t believe it’s August already!”
We make time fly by saying things like that…Time does not stand still, it is constantly moving and going forward. No one can stop it, a minute turns into an hour, which turns into two and three, and more.
Yes, we are in August, if you want to think deeply about it, then you can make the months fly by. I have said more than once, live in the moment, the now, today. You don’t have to rush time, just enjoy the present, not the past, or future, just the now.
It is summer, it always seems like the days go faster because we tend to be busier, more activities are planned, but really, each day has the same number of hours in it then a day in the winter.
Make the most of it by living each minute as it comes, don’t think ahead to the next minute, or the previous, just the one you are in now.
The Purpose Driven Blog
Behind every blog, there is a ‘why’. A reason to write, the purpose of driving the writer to do what they do and write.
Some bloggers write about healthy living and eating, wanting people to make better choices, others talk about exercising, traveling, cooking, and even blogging.
Whatever the reason or topic may be, there is always a reason, so…what is mine?
Mine comes in two parts; the first part is Matthew 5:14-16.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Inside of every Christian, there is (or should be) a light. A light we should be willing to shine into a dark and dim world. That is my theme verse for my blog, while I know my blog reaches just a small handful of people, my hope and prayer is that what I say, shines a light into another person’s world or life.
The second part is my “subtitle” under my blog name. Inspiration, Joy, Life. Those are the keywords I want all my blog posts to revolve around. My hope is that people can come to my blog, read my posts, and be inspired to simply be better and to have a better outlook on life.
Joy, I want my posts to have joy in them. We have a lot of negativity in the world, too many people find the worst in things, and would rather dwell on the absolute negative things.
I want my blog to be a place of joy, a place where people come away with a smile.
Life. A Christian life, a troubled life, a joyous life, a complicated life, a writer’s life, whatever the “type” of life, I want to cover it on here.
Kindness can go far – A short story by Me
There’s a stranger on the street corner waiting for the bus. You see her every day, she often looks sad and slightly confused. But yet you pass right by, too busy with your own life and in a hurry to get to work.
Day after day, week after week, you pass the stranger at the bus stop. But one day, you notice something different, her arm is in a sling and she looks tired and grumpy. You look at your own foot, remembering the time you broke it and felt the same. Wanting to cheer her a little, the same as others did when you had your injury, you get a sticky note out, scribble some words and walk up to the stranger.
You offer a kind word and a smile, you tell her you know how she feels, and hand her the note that reads
It may be raining today, but tomorrow the sun will shine
The stranger smiles wide, she says thank you and that you made her day. You quickly move on, and the stranger gets on the bus and with her, the note.
The stranger settles in her seat as the bus drives away, still looking at the note, she hears crying from the back of the bus.
She notices a mother struggling with her baby, she too looks tired and worn. When the stranger reaches her stop, she goes to the back of the bus and hands the mother the sticky note.
The mother is surprised and smiles at the stranger.
Soon the note passes from person to person and brings a smile to those who need it most. And it all started with one person caring about another. The note travels, letting each person know, they are seen by others and that they care.
How much joy and care can we spread with just some paper, ink, and some simple words?
Kindness can go far, we just have to start it.
